Travel & Tourism trends for 2025:

2025 travel and tourism trends include:

  • TikTok is helping travel addicts turn two days of annual leave into a five-day holiday. It will be interesting to see how TikTok impacts travel habits as the year goes on. (Source BBC).
  • United Nations agency UN Tourism forecasts that at the close of 2024, travel will have finally bounced back to pre-pandemic levels, and perhaps even exceed 2019 figures. Will 2025 continue this upward trend? (Source: National Geographic).
  • According to Skift Research's 2025 Travel Outlook report, travel companies are anticipating a 24% rise in the number of trips people are planning for the year ahead compared to 2024. (Source: BBC).
  • 45% of those surveyed said they were more likely to travel off-peak in 2025 (National Geographic).
  • ‘Destination dupes’ are increasing in popularity, defined where you swap an overcrowded spot for a lesser visited alternative. Expedia, the online travel agency, said that its data shows that 63% of customers are likely to visit a “detour destination” on their next trip. (Source: Independent).
  • As of November 2024, Spring shoulder season currency represents 49.3% of 2025 bookings as of November 2024. The notable growth can be seen in Latin America and Europe, which is where people see. Where we were in 2024:

  • Turbulent weather had a negative impact on holiday bookings during the Easter holidays. Across Somerset, the majority of tourism firms reported a drop in Easter trade. A survey for Visit Somerset, the county's tourism association, found two thirds reporting turnover down by up to 5%. (Source: BBC).
  • Revenue in the UK Travel & Tourism market is projected to reach US $40.12bn in 2024. (Source: Statista)
  • Visit Britain forecasts 39.5 million visits and £34.1 billion spend for 2024. This is a growth of 5% in comparison to 2023. The inbound tourism forecast (spending by overseas visitors in the UK) is the greatest it’s been in recent times.
